USO-Metro Monthly Center Highlights

Each of our USO-Metro locations started the first month of 2019 strong and ready to support our nation’s service members! Please enjoy looking at some of the highlights below - and don’t forget to follow those locations on Facebook to experience them as they happen!

This month, USO-Metro introduced the Semper Unum or “Always One” grocery bag food drive to assist Coast Guard members during the government shutdown. The generosity and support from the local community and volunteers at all USO-Metro locations made Semper Unum successful.

Warrior and Family Centers

The USO Warrior and Family Centers at Fort Belvoir and Bethesda provided many meals and special events this month to support our military.

Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir

In addition to kicking off the Semper Unum grocery bag food drive, the USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir provided a “take and bake” meal for Coast Guard families. Three military spouses and plenty of volunteers helped make this meal possible!

Warrior and Family Center at Bethesda

The USO Warrior and Family Center at Bethesda had a busy month! Volunteers made a delicious meal for service members to enjoy. There also was a Cajon jam session performance with Heidi Joubert.

Airport Lounges

The snowstorm at the beginning of the month made obstacles for travelers and the government shutdown impacted local Coast Guard families. The USO-Metro Airport Lounges met the needs of both traveling and local military members this month with snow accomodations, meals and more!

BWI Airport USO Lounge

The BWI Airport USO Lounge got a surprise snowy guest! They informed visitors how to view updated flight information and invited them to enjoy hot chocolate at the lounge.

Dulles International USO Lounge

The Dulles International USO Lounge thanked Holiday Inn Chantilly-Dulles Expo (Arpt) for providing complimentary hotel rooms to service members who were stranded due to snow. Their support is greatly appreciated!

Reagan Airport USO Lounge

The Reagan Airport USO Lounge provided a YUM (Your USO Meal) Lunch for the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Washington. That meal supported the local Coast Guard community in the midst of the government shutdown.

USO Fort Meade

USO Fort Meade also participated in the Semper Unum grocery bag food drive this month. They also fed Coast Guard families with the help of volunteers and in a partnership with Chick-fil-A Arundel Mills.

Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall USO Honor Guard Lounge

The Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall USO Honor Guard Lounge hosted several YUM lunches this month. One of their long-term volunteers, Barbara, was featured on USO-Metro’s main Facebook page for her great work!

Baltimore MEPS USO

Baltimore MEPS USO shared a throwback photo from the 2018 AUSA Conference featuring Bell Helicopters and Miss America to honor their support of our mission.
