Military Families Try Orchestra Instruments with National Symphony Orchestra

Military and their families were invited for a day of musical “pets” Thursday when volunteers with the National Symphony Orchestra came out to provide hands-on instruction with the orchestral instruments used on stage at the Kennedy Center.

“USO-Metro is so grateful to the NSO and the opportunities that they provide our military families throughout the year,” said Ashy Palliparambil, Resiliency Programs Manager. “We are excited about this partnership, and look forward to the events we have scheduled into the new year including the NSO Pops Holiday Concert in December.”

The Musical Petting Zoo was held in conjunction with the USO Warrior and Family Center at Bethesda’s YUM dinner from 5:30-7 p.m.

Run by the Women’s Committee for the National Symphony , the instrument petting zoos provide children and their parents the opportunity to get “up close and personal” with new musical instruments.

The USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore partners with the National Symphony Orchestra throughout the year to incorporate the military community in its incredible events and concerts.
